This event embodies the entrepreneurial spirit and gives students a platform to pitch a start-up. The participants would be required to formulate an elevator pitch for a start-up and record the same.

Dear Participants,
It gives us immense pleasure to welcome you to Kontigence’s Moonshot. By participating in this unconventional event, you get the opportunity to broaden your horizons and demonstrate your abilities as an individual who can influence society. Marked with selfish motives, people who dare to dream for those beyond themselves are few. Many corporates and enterprises emerge every day, and several are shut down. A unique trait about those enterprises which succeed is a motive to provide their services to solve problems that are seldom seen.
India has provided a nurturing ground to numerous startups in the past few years; however, many of them have been merely clones of Western ideas. The lack of technical innovation in India has led to venture capitalists restricting funding, resulting in the slow decay of entrepreneurship in India. A report by IBM Institute for Business Value and Oxford Economics observed that 90 percent of Indian startups fail within the first five years, noting lack of innovation as the primary cause.
We provide you with an avenue to utilise your skills to think of ways to solve large scale problems and make profits while maximising people’s wellbeing. This event is specifically designed as a platform for scholars with the central focus on helping them enhance their knowledge and hone their skills. For many of you, this concept is entirely new, so don’t be afraid to make mistakes. If you are ready to get creative this event is for you.
Good Luck!
Team Kontigence
Participants have a choice to participate individually or in a team with a maximum of 3 members. All participants are to formulate and record an elevator pitch for a start-up idea. An elevator pitch is a short description of an idea, product, or company that explains the concept in a way such that any listener can understand it in a short period of time. The maximum time for each participant/team is 2 minutes, beyond which the recording shall not be viewed.
Quantitatively evaluating different start-ups is not feasible due to the unique attributes associated with any new idea; hence, five discrete categories of start-ups were identified for this event. A suitable scoring metric was established for each of the five categories, based on a general framework, to ensure start-ups across different categories were evaluated fairly. Each start-up must fall under the scope of one of the categories listed below. If a start-up fails to do so, the project will receive a less accurate evaluation and may even be penalised.
Note: The purpose behind introducing discrete categories is to ensure fair evaluation and no category would be given preference over others during evaluation.
Referencing online materials – for understanding the topic, providing proof for a statement or any other purpose – is allowed; however, plagiarism will not be tolerated; if found, then the participant would be disqualified and their institution will receive a letter from our team describing their malpractice and low sense of academic integrity.
The elevator pitch recorded by each team will be subjected to a preliminary evaluation by the judges and a plagiarism check. Each submission will be shown to three judges and if two or more of them vote in favour of the submission moving to the final round, it will qualify.
If you have a clear understanding of your innovative idea and have put effort in constructing your elevator pitch, you will most likely qualify for the final round.
Before submission, make sure you register yourself for this event.
The submissions for the qualification round are open till 12:00 PM of Wednesday, 7 July 2021 GMT. The evaluation of any submission after the deadline is at Team Kontigence’s discretion.
We require you to send an email with your elivator pitch video attached in form of a mp4 file to submissions@Kontigence.com
Please ensure that the subject of your email is in the following format:
[Moonshot] CEO Name, School Name
You will receive a confirmation email in 24 hours of submission. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please contact us. Please do not send multiple emails to the specified email address, as it would make it difficult for us to work effectively. Only submit once you have finalised your project elements.
A list of qualifying teams will be released on this page and an email will be sent to each team by Friday, 9 July 2021.
A two to five minute Q&A session will be conducted with the panel of judges who may ask you questions based on your idea or any specific details and give their thoughts, suggestions and feedback.
The live session will take place on either Google Meets, Skype or Zoom.
Some judges may not be able to attend the live session due to different timezones. Because of this, the live sessions will be recorded so that those judges can also evaluate the session. There may be other members of team Kontigence to ask questions on behalf of the absent judges as well.
A sample elevator pitch video can be found for reference below. The video provided is only for reference and we encourage you to explore and undertake a more challenging approach. It can be used to grasp a general understanding of what is expected.
If you have any queries – regarding the guidelines, scoring metric or anything else – please send us an email at events@Kontigence.com. We will reply to them in less than 24 hours.
